To reboot our politics the first step is to make sure we are talking about the issues and solutions in a way that a broad section of the population can relate to and understand. Which is why, with the help of the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust and our campaign partners, we've spent several months polling people, conducting several focus groups to develop effective messaging, and are now testing this messaging.
Once we know how to frame our demand to upgrade our politics with sortition in a broadly appealing way, we will then develop and launch a campaign to institute sortition at the national level. We continue to "road-test" and refine our ideas with our campaign in Scotland for a House of Citizens.
In other news:
- Here are some highlights from our year, including that we are now (more or less) a worker-controlled cooperative.
- We continue to campaign in Hungary, ahead of the upcoming elections early next year, for a national citizens' assembly there.
- The Global Assembly, for which we helped recruit people using a global lottery, is about to finish deliberating, and some of the participants spoke at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), in Glasgow.
Thanks for your ongoing support, and we hope you have a safe and happy festive season!
