We're busy building and supporting a campaign in Scotland to turn the recommendations of the Citizens' Assembly of Scotland for a permanent second sortition chamber in Scotland into a reality. This work is emerging from our ongoing discussions around strategy and tactics to achieve a real democracy, which is open to member input (see below).
We're also continuing to help run citizens' assemblies in various parts of the globe, including on the Island of Jersey on "Should assisted dying be permitted in Jersey and, if so, under what circumstances?" - which has now become our most popular event in terms of response rate. The emotive topic is obviously interesting to many people.
Invitations to our members to contribute to our strategy and governance reviews have been sent out. If you want to join us and are not already a member then do join up and ask for an invite.
We continue to support and assist active groups interested in promoting sortition in the US, UK, Australia, Denmark, Hungary, Israel, and France (and we have connections in Italy and Germany). If you'd like to get involved with any of these groups please contact us and we'll connect you to the group's convenor.
