Sortition Foundation recruited for the Town of Gibsons Residents’ Assembly, which took place in 2024. The assembly made recommendations for their Official Community Plan (OCP).
The team from Simon Fraser University's Renovate the Public Hearing Initiative described the groundbreaking process in their own words. “This assembly offers a national and international case study on what the future of land use planning could look like, and on the effectiveness of meaningful, 'upstreamed' engagement as an alternative to public hearings.”
